UMW Launches “The Talons”

Dear UMW Faculty, Staff and Administrators,

My name is Jesse Jones and I am writing to you on behalf of one of the University of Mary Washington’s newest clubs, “The Talons.” We are a student-run organization whose main goal is to enhance the spirit and pride here at our fine university. We have many brilliant visions that we hope to make realities. Some of our ideas include better publicizing our school’s fight song by playing it at more events, recognizing our most well-recognized landmark – the Bell Tower – in different ways, pumping up attendance and hype at campus events – both academic and athletic, and much more. We also want to get students showing their school pride by wearing more UMW “swag,” and have plans that will do just that!

We are one of the fastest growing clubs in school history and hope to do even bigger things. With much audacity, our President Kadeem Gittens has convinced students to come together and help boost the level of student involvement and excitement, but we cannot do so without your help.

You can assist by:

1. Knowing we exist (check) and getting involved (we’re open to all students, faculty, and staff)!
2. Informing us of campus events next year where you would like Talon support – athletic, academic, programmatic, etc.
3. Supporting our campus pride initiatives as they roll out (like wearing blue and gray on Wednesdays)!
