Presidential Inauguration

The following message is from the Co-Chairs of the Presidential Inauguration Planning Committee:

To the Members of the UMW Community,

We are pleased to inform you that the inauguration of Dr. Troy D. Paino as UMW’s 10th president will take place in April 2017.  The installation ceremony will be held late afternoon on Friday, April 21, 2017 in Dodd Auditorium in George Washington Hall.  It is anticipated that a number of academic and service events will be scheduled prior to the installation and that celebratory events will follow the installation, to which all members of the UMW community will be invited.  Planning for the inauguration is underway and further details will be forthcoming over the next several months.

The following individuals have been named by the Rector of the University to serve as co-chairs for the inauguration planning committee:

Each subcommittee has a specific charge and is comprised of six-to-nine members.  These members include a variety of UMW faculty, staff, and students.

The inauguration of a president is a significant and historic milestone in the life of a university.  We hope that you will look forward to participating in the events of April 2017, as the University of Mary Washington community celebrates, in a formal and public way, our next chapter.
