Textbook Adoption Dates

On time adoptions mean more used books available for students AND more money in students’ pockets through buyback. Please submit textbook/course material adoptions to the UMW Bookstore by the due dates so that the store can maximize payment to students for books they wish to sell.

There is a $1,500* Pepsi Textbook Scholarship fund for students, offered to the first department to reach 100% on-time adoption rate.
*In the event of a tie, funds will be divided.

Adoption Due Dates:
FREDERICKSBURG CAMPUS Course Material Adoptions for summer 2017 are due March 18, 2017
FREDERICKSBURG CAMPUS Course Materials Adoption for fall 2017 are due April 21,2017

COURSES BEING TAUGHT ON THE STAFFORD CAMPUS: Course materials for classes being taught on the Stafford Campus are facilitated through MBS Direct, the virtual bookstore for the Stafford Campus. There are three points of contact to assist with submitting Stafford campus orders:

Adoption due dates are different from those on the Fredericksburg campus, and will vary depending on course start dates; please contact appropriate department representative listed above for these dates.

Book Signing

James Gaines, author and professor emeritus of French, will sign copies of his recently published science fiction book, Life Sentence, from 3 to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, March 14. The event, sponsored by the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures, will take place in the University Bookstore, 306 Lee Hall. It is free and open to the public. Gaines wrote the book with his son, John, UMW ‘06, as J. M. R. Gaines. John Gaines will also be available to sign books. UMW Book Club

The UMW Book Club will meet on Wednesday, March 15, from noon to 1 p.m., to discuss the current best-selling non-fiction book Hidden Figures: The American Dream and the Untold Story of the Black Women Mathematicians Who Helped Win the Space Race. The group will meet in the University Bookstore, 306 Lee Hall. Faculty Regalia Rental

Oak Hall is the regalia provider for the University of Mary Washington. Faculty and Staff may rent or purchase academic regalia from the leading custom regalia manufacturer in the country. Beginning February 1, 2017, Faculty and Staff may go online at to rent regalia for delivery directly to individual offices. Those who prefer to order by phone may do so by calling Oak Hall Customer Service at l-800-456-7623. A customer service representative will be happy to assist you.

Rental Pricing for Faculty and Staff:
Bachelor Ensemble:  $37.95
Master Ensemble:  $39.55
Doctor Ensemble:  $43.95
Prices include shipping charges.

To ensure timely delivery, orders for rental regalia must be received by Oak Hall no later than April 5 2017, for Dr. Paino’s Inauguration, and April 29 for Commencement.

Custom academic regalia is available through Oak Hall’s Custom Department. Please call 1-800-223-0429 for assistance with custom orders.

To ensure on-time delivery of custom regalia, orders must be received no later than March 31 for Commencement.



Pepsi March Madness

Winning stickers have been randomly placed on drink bottles in vending machines around campus. Be sure to check your vend drink for a sticker. Bring the empty bottle with sticker attached to the EagleOne Card Center, Lee Hall 10, Monday-Friday, 8AM-5PM. Sticker amount will be deposited to your EagleOne card.
