The University Book Club will meet on Wednesday, Sept. 20, from noon to 1 p.m. in the Bookstore to discuss A Man Called Ove by Fredrik Backman, a New York Times bestseller. Members and visitors are welcome. Contact Margaret Mock, mmock@umw.edu, if you have questions.

Do You Prefer Warm or Cozy?

Autumn is just around the corner! The Bookstore is celebrating with a one-day-only sales event of Sept. 22. Get 15% off a single UMW insignia item.

For those already longing for the warmer days of summer, mark your calendar for Oct. 9: the Bookstore will take 20% off warm weather gear, like shorts and tanks!

Banned Book Week

In recognition of Banned Books Week, the University Bookstore, the Department of English, Linguistics, and Communication, and Simpson Library are sponsoring public readings from banned books. Each year, the American Library Association’s Office for Intellectual Freedom records hundreds of attempts by individuals and groups to have books removed from library shelves and classrooms. Stop by Campus Walk in front of Lee Hall between noon and 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 27, and Thursday, Sept. 28, to hear faculty read excerpts from classics that have been banned or challenged. Copies of banned books will be available for purchase. Read your own banned book!
