Senior Students Named UMW Wagner Wealth Management Athletes of the Month for March

Senior swimmer Alex Anderson and senior baseball star Jono Haught have been named as the UMW Wagner Wealth Management Athlete of the Month for March.

Anderson swam in three events at the NCAA Championships, breaking the existing NCAA Division III record in every event. He finished second in the 200 yard individual medley, and was one of three swimmers to surpass the old NCAA Division III record. After breaking his own NCAA Division III record in the 400 yard individual medley in morning preliminaries, Anderson broke it again in the finals last week, placing second with a time of 3:47.25, more than a second faster than his winning time from a year ago.

The most highly decorated athlete in University of Mary Washington history, Anderson capped his brilliant career in grand fashion on the evening of Friday, April 3, night, breaking the NCAA Division III record in winning the 200 yard butterfly in day three of the Championships in Shenandoah, Texas.

Haught emerged as one of the top hitters in Division III baseball last month, hitting .536 with seven home runs and 35 RBI. He was named as the national hitter of the week, and CAC Player of the Week three times. He ranks in the top five nationally in hitting, home runs, doubles, triples, runs scored and RBI.
