2nd Annual Educator-in-Residence, May 2

The University of Mary Washington’s College of Education will hold its second annual Educator-in-Residence event on Wednesday, May 2 at the Stafford campus, featuring a lecture from 2012 Educator-in-Residence Princess Moss. The lecture will take place from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the North Building.

Moss ’83, is a veteran educator with more than 20 years of instructional experience and is the current president of the National Education Association (NEA) Executive Committee. She served two terms as president of the Virginia Education Association (VEA) and more than 10 years on the VEA Board of Directors. Moss is an advocate on a wide variety of topics, including minority concerns, women’s issues, political action and school finance at the local and state levels. Moss was awarded UMW’s Distinguished Alumnus Award in 2006 and served as a member of the university’s Board of Visitors from 2007 to 2011. She received a master’s degree in education from the University of Virginia.

In addition to the keynote lecture, the Educator-in-Residence event also includes the Student Research Symposia and a special initiatives poster session and demonstration from 1:30 to 5:30 p.m. Recognition of 2011-2012 graduates of the College of Education and a reception will follow the lecture.

All events, which are free and open to the public, will be held in the North Building. Van services between campuses 12:30-8:00pm Fredericksburg Campus, Chappell Bell Tower and Stafford Campus, North Building every 30 minutes.
