James Pape has become an accessibility partner at UMW.

Recognizing disability as a key component of diversity, the Office of Disability Resources (ODR) has worked to develop an opportunity to build understanding of how practices, policies, attitudes, language, and interactions impact individuals with disabilities. We are hoping to create a transformative movement: one to promote accountability, accessibility, and inclusivity at UMW that aligns with our ASPIRE Values, while keeping in mind the impact on individuals with disabilities.

The Accessibility 101 Workshop, open to all, will be held on several days and times throughout the year. Information on what accessibility is and what it means to be accessible will be discussed. The learning outcomes of this workshop include: 1. Furthering understanding to support the disability community through basic examination of your current state, and 2. Development of goals in relation to promoting accessibility. Individuals will be recognized for completing the Accessibility 101 Workshop as “UMW Accessibility Partners.” We are hoping to create our own transformative movement: one to promote accountability, accessibility, and inclusivity at UMW that aligns with our ASPIRE Values and Principles on Diversity and Inclusion.

ODR would like to recognize James Pape, Access Services and Outreach Librarian from UMW’s Simpson Library as an Accessibility Partner. James’ commitment to attend the first Accessibility 101 Workshop and identify as an Accessibility Partner indicates his strong support for the work of promoting Access for All. Thank you, James, for your support!
