Attorney Tara Murray will be the MLK Celebration keynote speaker.
UMW’s 2023 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration – Out of a mountain of despair, a Stone of Hope – includes the following events.
- Attorney Tara Murray will deliver the keynote speech on Wednesday, Jan. 18, at 7 p.m. in the Chandler Ballroom inside the Cedric Rucker University Center.
- Speaking Truth to Power – an event featuring art, music, dance and spoken word created by members of the UMW campus community in honor of Dr. King and others who’ve led the fight for human rights and social justice – will take place Thursday, Jan. 19, at 6 p.m. in Lee Hall’s Underground. - MLK Jr. Day of Service – an event honoring Dr. King’s vision with service projects for Fredericksburg-area agencies – will take place Saturday, Jan. 21, from 1 to 4 p.m., in the Chandler Ballroom inside the Cedric Rucker University Center.
