Reminder of UMW’s Day on Democracy on Tuesday, November 5.
The UFC voted to establish the Day on Democracy prior to the 2020 election. The Day includes the cancellation of regular class meetings* annually on the date of the General Election. Teaching faculty, please be sure to account for this when designing your syllabi and coursework. Additionally, we encourage you to speak to your students about the importance of civic engagement and voting in the lead-up to November 5. These are crucial elements of the University’s ASPIRE values.
* The exceptions to this mandate include scheduled laboratories and classes that meet only once per week. In these cases, individual faculty may decide whether to hold their regular meetings.
