UMW Staff Present at MABUG Conference

Two UMW staff members presented sessions at the Mid-Atlantic Banner Users Group (MABUG) conference at the University of North Carolina Wilmington, and a third staff member facilitated a session at the meeting, which was held in October in Wilmington, N.C.

Jane Cariker, director of advancement IT services, presented the session “Loading Parent Records from Student Information into Advancement.” Cariker discussed the process that creates parent records in Banner and outlined the benefits it has provided in establishing both immediate and personal communication with new UMW parents.

Edward Gray, systems integration specialist, presented the session “Automating Account Propagation in a Microsoft Environment.” Gray shared UMW’s experiences and insights in leveraging Banner data with Microsoft Identity Lifecycle Manager 2007.

Linda Thornton, associate director of business systems analysis, facilitated the “Birds of a Feather” session on Virginia’s eVA Vendor Data Standards and the impact on Virginia Banner universities.

Other UMW attendees included Rita Dunston, registrar; Ben Kjar, associate director of enterprise applications services; Linda Lovin, applications developer; and John Symonds, applications database administrator.

UMW hosted the 2008 conference of MABUG, which is an association of colleges and universities in Delaware, District of Columbia, Maryland, New Jersey, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia.
