Baker Speaks at Small Business Forum

Brian Baker, Executive Director of the UMW Center for Economic Development, presented on the topic “How Business Incubation Grows Small Enterprise” at the Internal Revenue Service Fall Small Business Forum on Thursday, August 13.  The forum also included speakers from the Department of Labor, the Internal Revenue Service, and the U.S. Small Business Administration SCORE program to educate business assistance practitioners.  The Center for Economic Development in Eagle Village operates the EagleWorks Business Incubation Center where early stage companies can be groomed for growth.  EagleWorks is managed by Kelsey Whitman (UMW 2014).  The Center for Economic Development also hosts the Virginia Business Incubation Association, an educational and networking organization (www.vbia.org) .  For More information on activities at the UMW Center for Economic Development visit http://economicdevelopment.umw.edu/.
