The Head Start Gift Box Drive is a drive UMW Community Outreach and Resources (COAR) holds every year. Our goal is to provide items for kids in the Head Start programs of Fredericksburg, Stafford, and Spotsylvania. We provide children in the program with a hat, gloves or mittens, a scarf, a toothbrush, toothpaste, a coloring book, crayons/markers, small toys, and a book.
We would like to invite any faculty member to fill a box for a 3-5 year old child. All you have to do is pick up a wrapped gift box from the COAR Office between 11/14 and 11/18, fill it with anything from the suggested donation list (inside each box), and return it to the office by Wednesday, November 30th. You can also check out a box from us at our table in the Second Floor of the University Center from 11-1 the week of November 14th. We ask that you do not include any religious items.
The COAR Office is located on third floor of the University Center, Room 320. Boxes can be dropped off anywhere between 9 am and 4 pm. Please consider sharing this information with any of your classes, student groups, or faculty coworkers. Happy Holidays!
