Sophomore softball pitcher Kara Deppe has been named the UMW Wagner Wealth Management Athlete of the Month for March.
Deppe led Mary Washington to a 14-8 record in the month of March, gaining seven pitching wins, including UMW’s first over Salisbury in 10 years. The sophomore from Henrico, Virginia, allowed one earned run or less in six of her first seven starts of the month, striking out 14 batters in a win over Grove City College, and adding 10 strikeouts against Bridgewater College and nationally ranked Eastern Mennonite University.
Deppe struck out six and allowed just two hits in UMW’s 5-1 win over Salisbury on March 25. The Eagles gained head coach Dee Conway’s 500 career win over spring break in Myrtle Beach as well.
She leads the CAC in strikeouts and earned run average.
