Summer’s the perfect time for high school students and their families to get an early start on their college search, and with daily campus visits available, the University of Mary Washington fits into any travel schedule. Midway between Washington, D.C. and Richmond, Virginia, it’s easy to add us to your travel plans. It’s a stop that combines the historic charm of downtown Fredericksburg with more than a century of higher education excellence across the arts and sciences.
With more than 234 acres, the University of Mary Washington campus includes state-of-the-art science labs where undergraduate research takes shape, a business program where entrepreneurs start-up their vision and a recently renovated home base for education programs with model classrooms and makerspaces that inspire teachers and students. The future of UMW includes the construction of a breathtaking theatre that will house the theatre program, which regularly produces grads who make it to Broadway, and art and music studios that thrive with performances and exhibits.
Campus tours and information sessions are available twice daily weekdays and on Saturday mornings through mid-August, but Enhanced Summer Visits – scheduled for Friday, July 11, and Monday, July 21 – provide an even more in-depth experience. Visitors can stroll along UMW’s tree-lined Campus Walk, get a glimpse inside its brick buildings and inviting classrooms, and brush up on what the UMW experience entails. Plus, Enhanced Summer Visits include specialized information about financial aid and chances to talk one-on-one with Mary Washington’s academic leaders and deans. Read more.
