There’s still time to join the new 18-week session of Weight Watchers at Work. The new session begins Wednesday, August 31, in the Woodard Campus Center’s Red Room. WW@W meets at noon on Wednesdays in the center.
WW@W has had a presence on the Fredericksburg campus since October 2009, and in that time, UMW employees have kissed thousands of pounds goodbye. Since the program started, employees have lost 1,433 pounds and six have reached their lifetime weight goals.
Among them is Cindy Fitch, who has shed 52 pounds during her 17 months on the program.
“The group means everything,” Cindy, campus employment supervisor in the Financial Aid office, said. “It keeps you accountable.”
And besides the obvious results, Cindy was quick to call out the added benefit of saving money. State employees are eligible for a 50 percent reimbursement on a WW@W membership.
“The program makes you realize you can eat what you want,” she said. “It’s not a diet, it’s a lifestyle change.”
Cindy’s advice for anyone who is on the fence?
“Come to a meeting,” she said. “See what it’s all about.”
