Michelle Lee Hardy was hired as director of sales for Hyatt Place Fredericksburg at Mary Washington. Hardy, originally from Weidman, Mich., is a seasoned veteran of the hospitality industry, with a large concentration of her career vested with interstate hotels and resorts. Hospitality became a passion for her with her first hotel while she was in college under the hospitality management program where she participated in opening the hotel in Big Rapids, Mich. Hardy is married with two children, one in college at Ferris State University, where she too attended, and one 10 year old who loves football. Hardy has participated proudly in various community efforts along the way with such organizations as Food Gatherers, Red Cross, Meals on Wheels and National Arbor Day Foundation. She looks to expand on her community efforts in her new capacity, one in particular interest, Habitat for Humanity, where she may utilize her skills as a painter. Michelle attributes her successes over the years to one over all philosophy “work in all things with integrity, and good things shall result.”
John M. Marion, of Fredericksburg, was hired as assistant general manager of the Hyatt Place Fredericksburg at Mary Washington. He attended Spotsylvania County public schools and graduated from West Virginia University with a BA in biology. He served two years with the U.S. Peace Corps in Fiji teaching biology. He worked as a research assistant at the Medical College of Virginia, Virginia Commonwealth University and attended the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, where he earned his masters of public health in epidemiology. He returned to Fredericksburg to teach biology and earth science. He taught for two years with the Spotsylvania County Public Schools, and then four years at Fredericksburg Academy. He moved on to be a Food Safety Inspector with The Steritech Group leading him to an almost six year job with Marriott International.
