Simpson Library’s Digital Archiving Lab is open in the ITCC, room 322. The Lab contains specialized equipment to convert books, manuscripts, photographs, scrapbooks, and other materials to digital formats. High quality digital objects are used to support the research and teaching goals of the University community, and can be accessed on many platforms among the Library’s online digital collections. Tours, consultations, and class instruction sessions are available for courses involving digitization projects and archival research.
The Lab has walk-in open hours from 1:30-4:30 p.m. on Monday afternoons, and appointments are available Tuesday through Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Faculty who are interested in utilizing the Lab’s services to digitize library materials or items from their own personal collections should contact Suzanne Huffman, Digital Resources Librarian, at shuffman@umw.edu or ext. 1756.
