The Office of Residence Life and Commuter Student Services seeks an energetic, student centered faculty member to serve as the Faculty-in-Residence (FiR) for the 2015-2016 academic year.
The Faculty-in-Residence is an integral component in the vision of creating a residential environment of freedom, responsibility and service for students to learn, grow and lead. The ideal candidate for this position has a strong interest in promoting the whole range of students’ personal, social and academic growth and actively embodies a student-centered, approachable, supportive faculty presence within the residential community.
The Faculty-in-Residence lives in an apartment in the residence hall and seeks to bridge any gaps that may exist between the classroom and residence hall experience by creating a seamless learning environment for residential students. In addition to living in UMW provided housing, the Faculty-in-Residence will interact with students within the residence halls and dining facilities, and during other planned activities to successfully perform the essential job duties of the position.

(2) A letter of interest which details the following topics:
- The importance of student/faculty engagement in the residential community,
- How you as the Faculty-in-Residence will act as a liaison between the Office of Residence Life and the UMW faculty, and
- How the Faculty-in-Residence program will benefit UMW students, the university, and the greater UMW community.
