Nominations Being Accepted for Inaugural Grace Mann Launch Award

The family of Grace Mann has established an endowment to provide an annual financial award to a University of Mary Washington graduating senior who will be going out into the world and doing the good that Grace would have done. A junior American studies major from Northern Virginia, Grace was actively involved in People for the Rights of Individuals of Sexual Minorities (PRISM), Feminists United, and the Student Government Association Senate.

In Grace’s honor, the award is established to help to launch the recipient into the next phase of their life.  The award will be given to a graduating senior who:

  • is active on campus in organizations that promote social justice and equality, social change and/or who advocates for victims of sexual assault or prejudice and exemplifies a commitment to improving the lives of others through the change of attitudes, behaviors, laws, policies, or institutions; and,
  • is planning to pursue a career in support of those goals and promote equality and/or advocate for victims.

Faculty, staff and students are asked to nominate a 2016 graduating senior whose profile best meets the criteria listed above.

Nominations should be submitted by March 18, 2016, through OrgSync at https://orgsync.com/59560/forms/187064

Nominees will be contacted to provide supporting documentation which should also be submitted by March 18, 2016.
