Interested in hitting the treadmill before work or swimming some laps during lunch, all without even having to move your car? Now you can! You can also take group fitness classes scheduled conveniently around your workday, and not worry about doing a downward-facing dog right next to a student from a class you teach!
We’ve heard you! And we’ve researched offerings at other universities. With extended hours and staff-only fitness classes, UMW Campus Recreation is adapting to meet the needs of faculty and staff. Starting this fall, the Fitness Center will open at 6 a.m. on weekdays. Also, new offerings will be available including locker and towel service, personal training, and outdoor recreation excursions and rentals.
All that you need to gain access to these services is a Campus Recreation Membership. All faculty and staff are invited to enjoy a free 30-day trial membership at the Fitness Center. After the complimentary month, membership options are as follows:
- Approximately $5 per paycheck through payroll deduction
- $60 one-time payment per semester
- $115 one-time payment per year
Come and learn more about all that YOUR fitness center has to offer. We will hold a RecFest Open House on Wednesday, Aug. 17, from 10 a.m. to noon, and from 4 to 6 p.m. You can tour the facility, meet our staff, learn about the outdoor recreation program, check out our brand-new equipment, participate in a fitness assessment with a personal trainer, and more. For more information, contact Brittanie Haas, assistant director of fitness and wellness, at bhaas@umw.edu or 540-654-1187. We can’t wait to see you!
Sincerely,
Your Campus Recreation staff
