Hidden Figures: Meet the Author

hidden-figuresThe University Bookstore will be selling books at a “Meet the Author” event sponsored by the Central Rappahannock Regional Library on Saturday, March 4. Margo Lee Shetterly, author of the non-fiction best-seller Hidden Figures: The American Dream and the Untold Story of the Black Women Mathematicians Who Helped Win the Space Race, will speak at 3 p.m. in Dodd Auditorium. Book Club

On February 15, 2017, the UMW Book Club will meet from 12 to 1 p.m. in the University Bookstore to disucss The Interestings, by Meg Wolitzer.

On March 15, 2017, they will meet from 12 to 1 p.m. in the University Bookstore to discuss Hidden Figures: The American Dream and the Untold Story of the Black Women Mathematicians Who Helped Win the Space Race by Margo Lee Shetterly. The book is available in the Bookstore at a discount for Book Club members.

Upcoming Sales

The “Show George Some Love Sale” will begin on Valentine’s day, and go through President’s day (February 14-20). The Bookstore will offer students, faculty and staff 15% off a single apparel or insignia item.

On March 16-18, the Bookstore will be offering 10% off diploma frames for grad fair.​

Textbook Adoptions

Textbook adoption dates are approaching.

  • Summer Adoption Deadline: Friday, March 17, 2017
  • Fall Adoption Deadline: Friday, April 14, 2017

Departments with 100% adoption rates by the deadline are eligible to receive up to $1,500 in textbook scholarships for their students. Sponsored by Pepsi.

Faculty Regalia Rental

Oak Hall is the regalia provider for the University of Mary Washington. Faculty and Staff may rent or purchase academic regalia from the leading custom regalia manufacturer in the country. Beginning February 1, 2017, Faculty and Staff may go online at www.oakhalli.com/UMWfaculty to rent regalia for delivery directly to individual offices. Those who prefer to order by phone may do so by calling Oak Hall Customer Service at l-800-456-7623. A customer service representative will be happy to assist you.

Master Ensemble:  $39.55
Doctor Ensemble:  $43.95

To ensure timely delivery, orders for rental regalia must be received by Oak Hall no later than April 21, 2017.

Custom academic regalia is available through Oak Hall’s Custom Department. Please call 1-800-223-0429 for assistance with custom orders.
