Inspired by his “Zen and the Arts” students’ final project, Assistant Professor of Religion Dan Hirshberg recently executed a new raking pattern in the UMW Zen garden. “The three rocks symbolize the ancient Chinese triad of the sky/heaven/force above (tian), earth (di) and humanity (ren),” Hirshberg said, “We will need a better harmonization of their strengths to overcome our current global crises.”
