The University of Mary Washington has expanded student access to mental health services 24 hours a day, seven days a week with the addition of TimelyCare, an on-demand telehealth platform. The virtual platform, available to students via a website or an app, offers on-demand options to students beyond the in-person hours of the Talley Center for Counseling Services.
Faculty and staff are often the first line of support for students who can benefit from care. If you are a UMW faculty or staff member and need additional support for students, call 833-4-TIMELY (press 2) any time, day or night.
To keep the conversation going with students, you can start with “It sounds like you’re having a really tough time. Did you know UMW now provides counseling services both in person and virtually? Talley Center provides in-person individual and group counseling, and TimelyCare is available 24/7. We could call their number together to get you support.”
Use this service when students shows academic signs of distress or physical and psychological signs of distress; refers to self-harm; discloses problems with family, peers, a significant other or a recent personal loss; isolates from peers, faculty or staff; or is identified by peers as potentially needing support.
