Dear colleagues,
I invite you and your students to the events below. Please consider announcing these events to your students.
The Leidecker Center for Asian Studies invites you to participate in its annual “Gardens for Peace” event, as participating Japanese Zen Gardens throughout North America sponsor events to honor the UN’s International Day of Peace (Sept. 21).
Join us for the following events, all of which will take place in the UMW Zen Garden behind James Farmer Hall (weather permitting):
Wed. Sept. 20, noon: Community Zen Garden Clean Up, when we prepare the Zen Garden for raking Toshiko Tanaka’s peace design. Ms. Tanaka is an artist, peace activist and survivor of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima. She created patterns that represent her desire for world peace.
Wed. 9/27 at noon: Guided Walking Meditation in the Garden
Wed. 10/4 at noon: Brief meditation and Zen Ensō Circle Painting
