Applications for admission to UMW opened Aug. 1 with an opportunity to be considered for the inaugural Piscopo Rodgers Science Fellows Program.
Applications for Fall 2026 admission to UMW opened last week on Friday, August 1, with a new opportunity to strengthen UMW’s tradition of undergraduate research and faculty-student collaboration.
The inaugural Piscopo Rodgers Science Fellows Program – named for trailblazing alumna Irene Piscopo Rodgers ’59 – will provide funding and research support to 15 high-achieving incoming students pursuing studies in biology, chemistry, physics, math, environmental science or computer science.
Students who apply by the early deadlines of Nov. 1 (early decision) or Nov. 15 (early action) will be the first considered for the new Fellows cohort, made possible by Rodgers’ gift the University, the largest in school history.
Also, faculty and staff are encouraged to share the Refer an Eagle code – UMWFAM – with high school seniors or transfer students who would thrive at Mary Washington. The code waives the $50 application fee when students apply via the Common Application.
Employees should also notify the Office of Admissions at admit@umw.edu with the student’s name and contact information so the referral can be tracked. It’s a great way to contribute to recruitment efforts and help talented students access an opportunity at UMW, particularly those that may be interested in the new program.
