Professor of Psychological Science Holly Schiffrin was highlighted in an article from Newsbreak titled “The Parenting Habits That Quietly Make Your Child Resent You.” The piece noted that Schiffrin and her colleagues at UMW published findings in 2013 showing that college students with highly controlling parents reported significantly lower levels of life satisfaction, autonomy, and general wellbeing, and higher rates of depression.
