ORPHE Open Enrollment Runs Through Oct. 31
October is open enrollment for teaching and administrative and professional (A/P) faculty who participate in the Optional Retirement Plan for Higher Education (ORPHE). During this period, participants may change retirement plan providers. Any changes will take effect with the first payroll contribution in January 2027.
Two provider options are available: DCP (recordkept by Voya Financial) and TIAA. Participants can watch prerecorded presentations from each provider to learn more about their options during open enrollment.
To change providers, log in to myVRS to review your options and make a selection. If you experience login issues, contact the Virginia Retirement System (VRS) directly at 888-827-3847.
Once logged in, an open enrollment message will appear on your account home page through Oct. 31, or until you make a provider change. No action is required if you wish to keep your current provider.
Changing providers during open enrollment does not automatically transfer your existing account balance. To transfer your balance to a new provider, you must request a plan-to-plan transfer from your current provider.
