Wells Performs Piano Recitals at UMW

Associate Professor of Music Robert Wells will perform a solo piano recital featuring music of the Americas (the U.S. and beyond) on Friday, October 23 from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the Seacobeck Weatherly Wing. The event is free and open to the public. Those who cannot come to the recital are welcome to attend to the dress rehearsal Friday, Oct. 16, also at 7:30 p.m. in the Seacobeck Weatherly Wing.
The concert will include selections by George Gershwin, Amy Beach, Connor Chee, Manuel Ponce, H. Leslie Adams, and Alberto Ginastera, all performed on UMW’s beautiful Steinway grand piano. This recital will highlight the diversity of musical traditions and influences across the Americas, featuring piano music inspired by jazz, classical Romanticism, Navajo vocal music, Mexican song, African-American spirituals, Argentine dance, and easy listening.
