Good Vibe Food Drive Kicks Off Nov. 2 to Fight Food Insecurity

University Dining and UMW Athletics are teaming up once again for the annual Good Vibe Food Drive, part of Sodexo’s Stop Hunger initiative. Last year, with tremendous support from UMW student-athletes, the drive collected more than 10,500 pounds of food, and organizers hope to surpass that total this year.
Donations will benefit the Gwen Hale Resource Center (GHRC) and the Fredericksburg Regional Food Bank. “We hope to be able to completely restock the shelves of the GHRC, because we know supplies are badly needed there,” said Rose Benedict.
Beginning Monday, Nov. 2, donation bins will be available in the Eagle’s Nest and on the second and fourth floors of the Cedric Rucker University Center (CRUC). All members of the UMW community are encouraged to donate nonperishable food items that have not expired.
University Dining will also host Good Vibe Food Drive donation events Nov. 2-5 in the CRUC lobby, from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and 4 to 7 p.m. each day. Participants can purchase specially priced food items to donate using cash or credit cards, or make monetary donations.
Every contribution helps fight food insecurity on campus and throughout the Fredericksburg community. For more information, contact Rose Benedict at rbenedic@umw.edu.
