UMW Awarded Grant to Address Student Food Insecurity

The University of Mary Washington has been selected to receive a $4,000 grant from Swipe Out Hunger, a national nonprofit organization dedicated to ending college student hunger.
The grant, which matches the funding UMW received last year, will support the University’s ongoing efforts to address student food insecurity and provide access to basic needs resources. Marissa Miller, director of the Center for Prevention and Education, led the grant application effort, helping secure continued support for these important campus initiatives.
Among UMW’s resources is the Gwen Hale Resource Center (GHRC), a free campus pantry offering food, dorm supplies, toiletries and other donated essentials to support members of the UMW community.
The award recognizes UMW’s commitment to addressing food insecurity and ensuring students have access to resources that support their well-being and academic success.
