Talley Center Offers Events for Suicide Prevention Month

Join the Talley Center for Counseling Services this September for a series of events focused on building connection, increasing awareness, finding support and strengthening resilience.
Throughout the month, our programming will highlight the themes of belonging, help-seeking, hope and resilience—each of which plays an important role in suicide prevention. Building a sense of belonging and connection can help students feel supported and remind them that they are not alone. Learning how and when to seek help connects students with resources and people who can provide support during difficult times. Fostering hope can help students recognize that challenging circumstances can change, while building resilience provides healthy strategies for navigating stress, setbacks and adversity.
- Wed., Sept. 16: Help-Seeking
“Know Your Resources” Campus Tabling Event – Visit tables from campus offices and resources to learn how they support you and when and how to access their services.
- Wed., Sept. 23: Hope Hunt
Campus Scavenger Hunt – Use your Hope Hunt card to visit participating offices and locations, learn about resources and complete fun activities.
- Wed., Sept. 30: ResilienceCome build Your Toolbox With Talley – Identifying healthy strategies, resources and supports to help you navigate stress, setbacks and difficult circumstances.
Together, these events create opportunities to connect with others, learn about available resources, strengthen coping skills, and promote a campus culture where reaching out for support is encouraged and valued. Come connect, get support, find hope, and be part of suicide prevention at UMW. 💙
