Celebrate UMW’s Values During ASPIRE Week, Sept. 28 – Oct. 3

Celebrate UMW’s values during the fifth annual ASPIRE Week, Sept. 28 through Oct. 3.

Join the Student Government Association for the fifth annual ASPIRE Week, Sept. 28 through Oct. 3, celebrating the values that help define the UMW community.

Each day will highlight one of UMW’s ASPIRE values through interactive events and activities open to the campus community. Events will feature themed giveaways and opportunities to sign a banner pledging to uphold the value of the day. The banners will be displayed in the Cedric Rucker University Center (CRUC).

Here’s what’s planned:

Accountability Day – Monday, Sept. 28, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Visit Palmeri Plaza, by the fountain outside of Monroe Hall, to meet campus partners who can help you take accountability for your academic, mental and physical well-being.
Rain Location: Cedric Rucker University Center, Second Floor, South Living Room

Scholarship Day – Tuesday, Sept. 29, 7 to 9 p.m.
Network with alumni, faculty and staff over desserts in the Cedric Rucker University Center Chandler Ballroom, followed by BINGO called by President Paino at 8 p.m.

Personal and Institutional Integrity Day – Wednesday, Sept. 30, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Recommit to personal and institutional integrity by connecting with the Student Government Association, Honor Council and Student Conduct Review Board in Palmeri Plaza, by the fountain outside of Monroe Hall.
Rain Location: Cedric Rucker University Center, Second Floor, Gourley Living Room

Inclusive Excellence Day – Thursday, Oct. 1, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Celebrate inclusive excellence with a multicultural lunch at the Top of the CRUC provided by University Dining and learn more study abroad experiences from the Center for International Education. Other activities throughout the day include the Career and Internship Fair in the Chandler Ballroom as well as the Disability Awareness Kickoff on Campus Walk in front of Lee Hall. Weekly trivia will also be ASPIRE-themed at 7 p.m. in The Underground.

Respect and Civility Day Friday, Oct. 2, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Demonstrate your commitment to respect and civility while celebrating the life and legacy of Dr. James Farmer through activities taking place at his commemorative bust just outside of James Farmer Hall.
Rain Location: Cedric Rucker University Center, Second Floor, Gourley Living Room

Engagement Day – Saturday, Oct. 3, 4 to 7 p.m.
Celebrate engagement during Family Weekend at Rocktoberfest on Ball Circle.
Rain Location: Cedric Rucker University Center, Second Floor, South Living Room
