by

A faculty piano recital featuring music of the Americas (the U.S. and beyond) will be held Friday, October 23 from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the Seacobeck Weatherly Wing. The solo recital will be performed by Associate Professor of Music Robert Wells. It is free and open to the public. A livestream of the event on Oct. 23 will also be available on the UMW Music Facebook page.

Those who cannot attend the recital are welcome to come to a dress rehearsal on Friday, Oct. 16, also at 7:30 p.m. in the Seacobeck Weatherly Wing.

The concert will include selections by George Gershwin, Amy Beach, Connor Chee, Manuel Ponce, H. Leslie Adams, and Alberto Ginastera, all performed on UMW’s beautiful Steinway grand piano. This recital will highlight the diversity of musical traditions and influences across the Americas, featuring piano music inspired by jazz, classical Romanticism, Navajo vocal music, Mexican song, African-American spirituals, Argentine dance, and easy listening.
