The University of Mary Washington men’s basketball team is headed to the “Sweet 16″ for the first time in university history. The Eagles, who defeated Springfield College and DeSales University in the first two rounds of the tournament, will host the NCAA Division III Tournament Round of 16 this weekend.
The Eagles will meet Virginia Wesleyan College on Friday at 7:30 p.m., after Williams College takes on Albertus Magnus College at 5:30 p.m. The winners of Friday’s games will meet on Saturday, March 15 at 7 p.m. with the winner advancing to the final four.
Thanks to President Hurley, free tickets for UMW students, faculty and staff will be available for pickup at the Anderson Center Friday from 10 a.m. to noon. Tickets will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. A valid UMW I.D. must be presented and each person is permitted to pick up only one ticket. No “cutting” in line will be permitted. Any person seen breaking this rule will be removed from the line completely. There is no guarantee that there will be remaining tickets for UMW students, faculty and staff at the door Friday night.
