#MaryWashDay is Back

Last year, nearly 80 faculty and staff members gave back over $10,000 on Mary Wash Giving Day. They supported programs all across the University, and helped make Giving Day the largest day in our fundraising history. This year, on March 20, we’re asking for your support again. We hope you’ll join us in giving back to the areas and programs that mean the most to you. Visit givingday.umw.edu to see all of the campaigns you can support.

As a thank you to our faculty and staff donors, we will randomly select one person to win a reserved parking spot of their choice for two weeks. Thanks for all that you do! #MaryWashDay

Ten for Ten: Another Win for Student-Athletes

Oct. 10 marked the end of the second annual Ten for Ten Challenge for student-athletes. Each year, the student-athletes learn about the importance of giving back to their programs and supporting the Eagle Club with a suggested $10 gift. This year featured a new “spotlight series” throughout the 10-day challenge, which highlighted the stories behind one current student and two young alumni who have given back to UMW Athletics.

Within the past two years, 337 individual student-athletes have made gifts through Ten for Ten – making them the largest group of students who give back to UMW. In the words of Softball Captain Kara Deppe ’19, “the money donated to our athletic programs is so helpful and very much appreciated by all of us!”

Student-Athletes Rise Up to the Ten for Ten Challenge!

Current student-athletes will once again participate in the Ten for Ten Challenge for the second year in a row. Ten for Ten is a fundraising campaign designed to educate student-athletes about the importance of giving back to their programs, supporting the Eagle Club, and demonstrating their leadership among the student body.

The goal is for student-athletes to each contribute a suggested $10 donation to their programs and reach 100% participation within their teams during Oct. 1-10. Last year’s fundraising challenge was a huge success, with 277 student-athletes giving back, 11 teams reaching 100%, and 20 out of 22 varsity sport programs participating in the campaign overall.

Stay tuned for the results of this year’s challenge, which will be announced after Oct. 10!
