Gary Johnson and Katie Locke Present at VACE Conference
Gary Johnson, director of Career Services, and Katie Locke, assistant director of Career Services, presented a series of roundtables titled “Practical Assessment” at the Virginia Association of Colleges and Employers (VACE) Annual Conference on Thursday, April 26 in Fairfax, Va. The presentation centered around a discussion of trends in data collection and assessment in career services and higher education. Johnson is past-president of VACE.
Matt Paxton ’97 of A&E’s “Hoarders” to Lecture at UMW
Matt Paxton ’97, extreme cleaning expert featured on the A&E program “Hoarders,” will give a free lecture on Wednesday, Feb. 1. The lecture, open to students, faculty and staff with a ticket, will take place in Monroe Hall, Room 116 at 7 p.m. A limited number of tickets are still available through the Office of Career Services on a first-come first-served basis.
Paxton is the owner of Clutter Cleaner, an extreme cleaning and organizing company based in Richmond, Va. He will sign copies of his book, “The Secret Life of Hoarders,” at the event. Limited copies will be available for purchase.

Legal Eagle Alumni Career Panel
Lawyers, a corporate VP, a policy maker, a current law school student, and more will share their stories and answer questions at the Legal Eagle Alumni Career Panel this Thursday, November 10. The panel session, sponsored by Career Services and Alumni Relations, will begin at 7 p.m. in Lee Hall, Room 411.
Panelists will include Daniel Steen ’84, Rector of the UMW Board of Visitors; The Honorable J. Martin Bass, Judge in the Fifteenth Judicial Circuit of Virginia; and Caitlin Robb Kelly ’06, Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney for the City of Richmond. Also, Heather Mullins Crislip ’95, Special Assistant for Policy Programs at The Miller Center at The University of Virginia; Mark Graybeal ’05, Associate with Pesner, Kawamoto, Conway PLC; Anna Markham Sanders ’02, Former Associate at Dow Lohnes PLLC; Chris Winslow ’01, Attorney at Law at the Law Office of Christopher M.
