Don’t Try This at Home

Everyone knows that UMW art majors are risk takers. It’s one of the main attributes to doing and making interesting things. But our very own Lauren Horton demonstrated this beyond the studios of Melchers when she rescued a baby osprey that had fallen into the water after trying to catch a fish. The baby, not having “adequately oiled” feathers, was unable to lift out of the water. Here’s where Lauren comes in (or should I say dives in), she got that little fella and swam back to shore while mom and pop watched from above.  After drying the feathers, Lauren let him rest and then watched as he mustered enough strength and courage to give flying another try. Off he went back to the nest with mom and pop on his tail.
