UPDATE: Open Enrollment Delayed for Health Care

From the Department of Human Resource Management, Office of Health Benefits.

April 11, 2012

Health and Flexible Benefits Open Enrollment Postponed Until May

Since the General Assembly did not pass a budget during their regular session, Open Enrollment for health benefits and flexible reimbursement accounts will be delayed.  The Open Enrollment dates this year will be Tuesday, May 1 through Friday, May 25, 2012.  Office of Health Benefits will be sending an email about the delay directly to employees eligible for health care for whom we have email addresses in Benefits Eligibility System.  The Spotlight newsletter is scheduled to be mailed the week of April 23.  More information will be forthcoming.

One change that we are aware of is that the Health Reform will impact Medical Flexible Reimbursement Accounts.  The maximum annual contribution for Medical Flexible Reimbursement Accounts (FRAs) will be reduced from $5,000 to $2,500 per plan year beginning July 1, 2012. There will be no effect on the contribution limit for Dependent Care Flexible Reimbursement Accounts, which will remain the same at $5,000. More information will be available during Open Enrollment
