The English, Linguistics and Communication department recently launched a social media platform for faculty to present their own research as part of UMW’s “Social Research Colloquium.” The blog, called “The Source,” allows faculty from all departments to share their research with other faculty, students and an audience outside the UMW campus.
According to Ben LaBreche, associate professor of English and one of the organizers of “The Source,” the blog provides a unique opportunity for faculty to make their research accessible to an audience it would not have been able to previously reach.
“We have a lot of fabulous projects being undertaken on campus,” LaBreche said, “but professors rarely have the chance to explain their research in their own words to one another, students, and outside audiences.”
