The following message is from the Office of Administration and Finance:
A number of administrative offices in George Washington Hall recently have relocated within the building. When sending mail or visiting offices, be sure to consult the directory on the first floor of GW or the online directory — http://www.umw.edu/directory/?s=george%20washington%20hall — for current locations.
Second, over the last year, Fredericksburg City’s Parking Task Force conducted a Parking Study of the downtown and University areas. As a result of the study, a number of parking changes have been recommended to City Council. Most relevant for the UMW community is that the “No UMW Student” signs would be removed, but the resident-only parking areas in College Heights and College Terrace would be expanded significantly. In addition, at least some portion of College Avenue may be converted to 2-hour parking. If these proposals are approved by Council, first implementation steps will likely occur in January 2018.
While these changes are still evolving, given the implications for students, staff, and faculty, as well as for our Fredericksburg campus events, we wanted to let the UMW community know as soon as possible. UMW is establishing a committee to develop a plan for maximizing the effective use of existing on-campus parking resources, and to coordinate parking solutions with the City of Fredericksburg.
We will keep the UMW community updated as this process continues to develop.
