Commencement is fast approaching, and plans are in place for two ceremonies to honor graduate and undergraduate students. The full schedule of events and related information may be found on the commencement website at www.umw.edu/commencement.
Friday, May 10, 2019 at 7:30 p.m., Dodd Auditorium, George Washington Hall – Graduate Ceremony:
Graduate teaching faculty are expected to be robed in their regalia in two processional lines on Campus Walk (between the Bell Tower and George Washington Hall) no later than 7:15 p.m. In the event of rain, please gather in the second floor hallway in GW Hall. Any graduate teaching faculty who cannot be present must inform the Dean of their respective colleges by Wednesday, May 1. Ceremony will conclude at approximately 8:30 p.m.
Saturday, May 11, 2019 at 9:00 a.m., Ball Circle – Undergraduate Ceremony:
Undergraduate full-time teaching faculty are expected to be robed in their regalia and in two equal processional lines on Campus Walk starting at the Phi Beta Kappa Key no later than 8:45 a.m. Any teaching faculty who cannot be present must inform the Dean of their respective colleges by Wednesday, May 1. Ceremony will conclude at approximately 12:00 p.m.
An invitation to the Commencement Luncheon via EventBright will be sent to all full-time faculty and administrative/professional faculty participating in the Undergraduate Commencement. Please print the complimentary lunch ticket and join us in the Chandler Ballroom immediately following the ceremony.
Any teaching or administrative/professional faculty seated onstage and related to a graduating student may assist with the presentation of the degree provided they have notified Ali Gauch Hieber at agauch@umw.edu no later than May 1, so the script can reflect their participation.
