Free UMW Fitness and Meditation Classes

UMW Campus Rec is offering free virtual fitness opportunities this summer to keep you healthy, happy, and engaged.


Virtual “Fitness Happy Hour” 

During the summer, our fitness instructors are hosting free fitness classes on Zoom, on the last Friday of June and July.

On June 26, our Fitness Happy Hour class will be 80’s Barre with Carolyn at 5:30 p.m.! The Zoom Meeting ID for this event is: 976 8477 9609

Traditionally, during the academic year, Campus Rec hosts weekly “Fitness Happy Hours” in person where different instructors lead unique and themed fitness classes. Since we are unable to do this right now, we want to bring the fun and joy of this fitness tradition to your home!


Online Fitness Classes

The June 2020 virtual fitness schedule is here! Visit the Group Fitness webpage to see the online workouts being offered on the @UMWCampusRec instagram this month. If you miss a live workout, you can catch the recording on our feed via IGTV.

How does Instagram Live work? Participants can not be seen, but the instructor is on the @UMWCampusRec story leading the workouts in real-time. There is a chat feature that allows participants to communicate with one another or send *hearts* to the instructor (on water breaks only, of course) and it can let the instructor know you are there!

Please note: summer online fitness classes are currently free and the summer schedule changes each month. In-person fitness classes are not being offered at this time as the UMW fitness center remains closed until further notice. (Updated May 27, 2020)

Mindfulness Conference Calls with Bill Brooks

Mindfulness is great for relieving stress and improving mental health. On our free weekly meditation calls, you won’t be asked to speak, but simply to listen and relax as Bill guides everyone on the line through some mindfulness practices to start your weekend off on the right foot. Give it a try! What have you got to lose?
