Professor Emerita of Political Science and International Affairs Elizabeth Larus spoke to Bloomberg about Taiwan as a Washington-based consultant on Asia. In the article, titled “Xi’s Fiery Taiwan Rhetoric Raises Risk of War in His Third Term,” Larus says that Xi’s options for keeping up pressure on Taiwan without a war are “endless.” Read more of the Bloomberg article and in the Bangkok Post.

Larus Comments also commented recently on the WION news program Fine Print on the Chinese Communist Party’s 20th Party Congress. She claimed Xi Jinping will continue China’s Zero-COVID policy because maintaining power is more important for the CCP than economic growth and that China will be more belligerent toward Taiwan in Xi’s third term.
