Invitation to Review Student Resumes, Week of Sept. 23

Dear Colleagues,

The Center for Career and Professional Development is looking for faculty and staff volunteers to review student resumes during the week of September 23rd.

Did you know that in the 2024 NSSE survey, the career-related activity that students were most engaged with was talking to faculty about their career plans? You may already know this, but you are an important part of our students’ life and career success. There are two days and multiple one-hour time slots to accommodate your schedule.  Follow this link to sign up: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C084CABAB22A5F5C16-50444327-resume

This initiative is part of our ongoing effort to support students in their career readiness for their Life After Mary Washington and in preparation for the Career & Internship Fair on Thursday, September 26, 2024.

Event Details: Resume Drop-Ins

  • Dates:  Monday, September 23 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Wednesday, September 25 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Location: Gourley Living Room, Cedric Rucker University Center
  • Role: Resume Reviewer (walk up meetings approximately 10-15 minutes per student)

To ensure a smooth experience for both volunteers and students, we will host an online webinar prior to the first review to address any questions and provide an overview. Additionally, we will share digital materials about effective tips for building a resume.

If you are interested in volunteering, please sign up for a one-hour time slot here. Your participation will be instrumental in helping our students present themselves confidently and professionally to potential employers. We know that hearing from their own trusted faculty and staff members makes students more likely to engage with events, and we hope you will consider encouraging your students and advisees to attend Resume Drop-ins.

Thank you for considering this opportunity to make a positive impact on our students’ career journey. We look forward to your involvement in making this event a success.
