Get ready for an unforgettable night of jazz on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at UMW’s Dodd Auditorium! The Jazz4Justice™ concert, a unique collaboration between Legal Aid Works® (LAW) and University of Mary Washington Jazz Ensemble, hopes to deliver an exciting blend of jazz standards, original compositions, and dazzling performances.
Under the vibrant direction of Doug Gately, the Jazz Ensemble will bring their dynamic energy and diverse musical talents to the stage, creating a memorable experience for jazz lovers and newcomers alike. A special feature in this year’s concert will be a jazz version of George Gershwin’s 100th anniversary of Rhapsody in Blue.
Jazz4Justice™ is not just a musical performance; it’s a testament to our collective commitment to enhancing our community and driving meaningful change. Every ticket purchased will contribute directly to two vital causes:
· Student Scholarships: Proceeds will help fund scholarships for UMW students studying jazz music. Many of the performers you’ll see have benefitted from these scholarships, showcasing the real-life impact of your support.
· Free Legal Services: Funds raised will also support legal services for low-income residents in our area, ensuring they have access to essential legal help.
By attending, you’re helping to provide educational opportunities for aspiring musicians and ensuring that everyone has access to legal support when they need it most. Your participation plays a crucial role in fostering a more inclusive and just community.
Save the Date: The concert will take place at George Washington Hall’s Dodd Auditorium on the UMW campus, on November 2, 2024, at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available on LAW’s website at https://www.legalaidworks.org/jazz4justice-ticket-purchase.
