The following message is from the Chief of Staff:
It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Amme Mahler Snipes, who served as the client services manager for Copy and Mail Services at UMW for 20 years. In this contract role, Amme touched all areas of UMW and forged many lasting friendships.
Those who knew her well know that her personality and work life were full of optimism. She led her team to accomplish great things, including earning national recognition for their performance at UMW. She loved her family, friends, cats, the beach and camping, along with the holidays and UMW, so her passing at this time of year may be a reminder for each of us to embrace the season. Lifting and inspiring others was at her core, and she celebrated each person and each moment.
Our sympathies go to Amme’s family during this time, including her husband, Jay Snipes, former UMW chief of police. The two met during their service on campus and were married in 2017.
The family will receive friends on Dec. 28, 2024, with visitation from 1-3 p.m. at Covenant Funeral Home, Rt. 1, Fredericksburg, with services to follow at 3 p.m.
