University of Mary Washington Associate Professor of Spanish Antonia Delgado-Poust appeared on Virginia Humanities’ With Good Reason radio program Friday, March 21 to discuss detective fiction written by Spanish women in the late ’90s and early 2000s.
In an episode titled “The Game’s Afoot,” detective stories are discussed – sometimes they get a reputation as being pulpy, unserious, or “just-for-fun” reading. But Professor Delgado-Poust says that the detective fiction written by Spanish women in the 1990s and 2000s was more than just a good story. These writers were grappling with Spain’s political legacy of injustice.
The With Good Reason radio program brings the research and insights of Virginia’s top educators to audiences across the nation. Hear the episode.
