Professor of English Eric Lorentzen recently published an article entitled “Far From the Madding Crowd: A Representative Culmination of a Victorian Semester” in Dickens Studies Annual. The journal periodically publishes special commemorative collections of essays celebrating the 150th anniversary of the publication of great works of literature, and gathers representative voices from prominent scholars in the field. This special collection, “Far From the Madding Crowd at 150: Seven Reflections,” offered critical estimates of the ways Hardy’s early Wessex novel still matters to scholars, readers, and students today.
