The George Washington Regional Commission (GWRC) is administering a grant from the United States Economic Development Administration (USEDA) for the completion of a Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS) for Planning District 16 (PD16). PD16 includes Caroline, King George, Spotsylvania, and Stafford counties as well as the City of Fredericksburg. All five localities in PD16 are participating in the development of the CEDS.
GWRC is announcing the commencement of an online community survey seeking input from PD16 community members about strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats to economic prosperity for the PD16 region. This survey is an important component of the comprehensive community engagement process and is foundational for identifying regional economic development opportunities, determining common economic development goals, and providing recommendations to local jurisdictions on how to work together to achieve these common economic development goals.
The survey is being administered by GWRC’s consultant, RKG Associates, Inc. of Alexandria, Virginia. Responses received will be used to inform the plan update, be interpreted as a community report, and confirm/refine the vision for economic development. All answers provided will be held confidential and only the aggregated findings will be presented.
The survey will be open for responses through September 15th. Residents, business owners, landowners; people who work and/or play in the region; anyone who travels through the region or shops within one of the five jurisdictions; anyone who identifies as a member of the PD16 community are invited to participate in the survey.
