After a weather-related reschedule, the annual Faculty-Staff Kickball Game finally took the field on Wednesday, Sept. 24, uniting employees across campus. Players donned baseball caps and sunglasses and scuffed their sneakers in the grass of Ball Circle for the lighthearted game.
Originally a College of Business vs. Psychology showdown, the tradition was paused during the pandemic. It was revived this year to include employees from all areas of the University, with Chief of Police Hall keeping things in check as umpire.
As a result of all the fun, players requested a springtime match. While organizer Kashef Majid, professor of marketing, is all in, he believes spring events on Ball Circle and the unpredictable weather during that time of year would make planning a challenge.
“We’ll do this a least once a year,” Majid said. “I hope even more employees can make it out to the next game!”
In the end, everyone enjoyed a few hours of playful competition, complete with sportive nicknames, such as “Hurricane Henderson” and “Jetstream Joey.” Keep an eye out for news of a future game and be ready with sneakers, nicknames and Eagle spirit!
